Frequently Asked Questions

West Texas contractor FAQ — five answers before you request a quote

The five questions West Texas homeowners most often raise before they request a quote, answered in plain language — cost ranges, timelines, grant eligibility, licensing and insurance, and the service area we cover. Each section ends with a one-click path to a free on-site estimate.

Objection 1 · Cost

How much does a residential rehab cost in West Texas?

Costs vary with scope, but as a frame of reference: a single-room remodel (a bath gut or a kitchen refacing) typically lands in the mid five figures, and a whole-home rehabilitation that touches multiple trades — plumbing rough-in, electrical panel, HVAC right-sizing, envelope work — runs into the low-to-mid six figures. These are envelope ranges, not bids; the line-itemized written quote comes back from the on-site walkthrough once we have measured and photographed the actual structure. For the full breakdown of what a CDBG-eligible residential rehab scope covers, see our residential rehabilitation detail; for a project-specific number, send photos through request a written quote.

Objection 2 · Timeline

How long does a typical project take?

A single-scope remodel — one bath, one kitchen, a roof replacement — runs roughly two to six weeks on site once the contract is signed and materials are on the ground. A multi-trade project with sequential rough-ins (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) runs two to four months. A whole-home modernization — the envelope-plus-mechanical scopes — typically runs three to six months, longer if the scope pulls a permit that requires staged inspections. The everyday workflow we run from first contact to signed contract is mapped out step by step on how it works.

Objection 3 · Grants

Does CDBG / HUD eligibility cover my project?

CDBG and HUD-funded residential rehab programs in West Texas are typically run through your county or through a state-administered program, and the household must be owner-occupied and meet the program’s income guidelines. The application path runs from intake through program eligibility review, environmental review, scope walkthrough, and award — often months before construction starts. Eligibility is determined by the program administrator, not by the contractor. Our residential rehabilitation detail lists the CDBG-eligible scope envelope we run, and the service areas pages cover the per-county program side for each county we work.

Objection 4 · Credentials

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. ApexBuildOS is registered with the Texas Residential Construction Commission, carries general liability insurance, and maintains workers’ compensation coverage for the crew. Federal-side identifiers — CAGE, UEI, NAICS — are listed on our capability statement, and the company background, sixteen years of field experience, and the programs we run are on the about page. Documentation is provided with every proposal so the homeowner can verify coverage before signing.

Objection 5 · Service Area

Where in West Texas do you work?

Our home base is Lubbock and we run scopes across the South Plains and the surrounding counties. Dedicated county pages exist for Lubbock County, Hockley County, Terry County, and Yoakum County; the service areas page is the umbrella that lists every county we staff and run scopes into, including the project-basis mobilizations outside the four named counties.
